Range of procedures

Main procedures

Each procedure is preceded by diagnostics and consultation. The treatment plan is tailored to the condition of the oral cavity and the patient’s needs.

Porcelain and zirconia crowns

Full-ceramic crowns made of porcelain or zirconium dioxide — top aesthetics, ideal colour match, high biocompatibility. Zirconia crowns are particularly durable — suitable for posterior teeth and for patients who grind.

Composite crowns

Direct (in-office) or semi-direct restorations. A more affordable alternative to porcelain, well suited for situations requiring fast aesthetic reconstruction.

Fixed bridges

Restoring missing teeth with bridges supported on abutment teeth (3–5 units). Restoring chewing function and smile aesthetics without the need for a removable denture. Materials: porcelain-fused-to-metal or all-ceramic.

Composite veneers

Direct aesthetic restorations made in the office during a single visit. Correction of shape, colour and position of front teeth. Less invasive than porcelain veneers — often without enamel preparation.

Porcelain veneers

Thin ceramic shells made in the lab, bonded to the front surface of teeth. Durable, highly aesthetic, resistant to discolouration. Require minimal enamel preparation for adhesive cementation.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Crown vs. veneer — which to choose?
A crown covers the entire tooth — indicated for extensive damage, after root canal treatment, for posterior teeth under load. A veneer covers only the front surface — chosen for aesthetic correction of front teeth (colour, shape, minor positioning). The decision depends on the tooth condition, expectations and preferences.
How long does it take to make a crown?
Typically 2 visits over 1–2 weeks. First visit: tooth preparation (shaping for the crown), impression (analogue or digital scan), temporary crown. Second visit: fitting and final cementation of the crown made in the prosthetic lab.
How long does a prosthetic crown last?
With good hygiene and regular check-ups — 10–15 years or longer. Zirconia and porcelain crowns show greater durability than composite ones. Most common reasons for replacement: caries under the crown, trauma, changes in the patient’s aesthetic needs.
Do teeth need to be ground down for crowns?
Yes, a classic crown requires preparation (1–2 mm of enamel removal on each surface) to make space for the material. Modern minimally invasive techniques (thin zirconia crowns) allow for less preparation. Porcelain veneers require minimal preparation (0.3–0.7 mm) or none.
Does NFZ cover prosthetics?
NFZ reimburses selected removable dentures (acrylic and metal-frame) within current limits. Crowns, fixed bridges and veneers are not reimbursed by NFZ — they are provided as paid services. Details available at SZPZLO TOP registration.
Does crown cementation hurt?
The cementation step itself is painless. Any discomfort relates to tooth preparation — performed under local anaesthesia, so it does not hurt. Transient sensitivity to cold/heat may occur after the procedure, subsiding within days to 2 weeks.
