Range of procedures

Main procedures

Each procedure is preceded by diagnostics and consultation. The treatment plan is tailored to the condition of the oral cavity and the patient’s needs.

Treating caries in primary teeth

Treatment of carious lesions in primary (baby) teeth. Materials adapted to paediatric treatment — safe, aesthetic, easy to apply. Treatment plan accounts for the child’s preparation and individual pace of the visit.

Paediatric prophylaxis & hygiene

Examination, age-appropriate oral-hygiene instruction, professional tooth cleaning. Education for parent and child about daily hygiene and a diet that protects against caries.

Fissure sealing & fluoride varnishing

Sealing of deep fissures in molars — a tight resin that prevents plaque accumulation. Fluoride varnishing strengthens enamel and reduces caries risk.

Extractions of primary teeth

Removing primary teeth in cases where the tooth has not exfoliated naturally during transition, is heavily damaged, or is blocking the eruption of a permanent tooth. Performed under local anaesthesia.

Endodontic treatment of primary teeth

Pulpotomy and pulpectomy of primary teeth — treatment of deep caries involving the pulp of a primary tooth. Goal: preserving the primary tooth until natural exfoliation, to avoid premature loss and problems with eruption of permanent teeth.

First adaptation visit

Familiarising the child with the office and dentist — visit without medical procedures. Showing the mirror, suction, the “fireman” (water syringe), looking at teeth together. Goal: build trust and reduce anxiety for future treatment visits.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

From what age can I bring my child?
The first visit can take place as soon as the first primary tooth appears — usually from around 5 months of age. Initially this is an adaptation visit aimed at familiarising the child with the office, checking the state of dentition and educating parents about oral hygiene. Over time we move on to the full scope of dental treatment, tailored to the child’s age and cooperation.
Are children’s procedures reimbursed by NFZ?
Yes — children up to age 18 have very broad access to free dental services at SZPZLO. Fissure sealing of permanent molars is reimbursed up to age 7, fluoride varnishing up to age 18, and all standard conservative and prophylactic procedures for children are covered by NFZ. Full list of reimbursed services in the “Reimbursed services” section of the price list.
Is anaesthesia used for children?
Yes — local anaesthesia is used when a procedure may be painful (e.g. extraction, treating deep caries). For children I use a topical anaesthetic gel before injection to minimise discomfort. The decision to use anaesthesia is always discussed with the parent.
What is a first adaptation visit?
It’s a visit without actual treatment — the child (and parent) get to know the office, the dentist and the atmosphere in calm conditions. The format is tailored to age: for infants and the youngest children, a gentle exam on the parent’s lap, an assessment of the first teeth and education for the parent about hygiene and diet. For older children we show the equipment — the mirror, the suction, the “fireman” (water syringe), look at the teeth together and get familiar with the chair. Goal: build trust and reduce anxiety for future treatment visits.
How often should a child come for a check-up?
Every 3 months — more often than for adults. Caries develops faster in children and primary teeth are less resistant. Regular check-ups detect cavities early and allow treatment before the tooth begins to hurt.
Can I be in the room with my child?
Yes — a parent has the right to be present during the procedure. I usually recommend the parent be present especially during first visits and with younger children. Older children often feel more comfortable on their own — the decision rests with the parent and child.
Do you perform root canal treatment of primary teeth?
Yes — I perform endodontic treatment of primary teeth (pulpotomy and pulpectomy). The goal of such treatment is to preserve the primary tooth until natural exfoliation. Primary teeth play an important role — they hold space for permanent teeth and shape proper bite development — so we save them when possible rather than extracting straight away. The decision between treatment and extraction depends on the extent of damage and the child's age.
